Story
Tiznit is the silver town of the Souss — a walled oasis city founded by Sultan Hassan I in 1882 to mark the southern edge of his reach, its six kilometres of ochre ramparts still intact around a medina famous for the daggers and jewellery its silversmiths beat by hand. South of Agadir, it is the gateway to the Anti-Atlas coast and the last real town before the road bends toward Mirleft and Sidi Ifni. The spring here, Lalla Zineb, is the reason a city stands at all in this dry country.
This is for the traveller heading to the wild south coast, and for the buyer of Berber silver. It is not a resort; its gift is its craft and its walls, and the road that opens beyond.
