The experience
The Ramsar-listed Sakia El Hamra at Laayoune allows a city visit to include hydrology and habitat without leaving the urban setting behind. A nature interpreter chooses a public, non-sensitive observation point and explains the wadi's variable water, vegetation and relationship with roads and neighbourhoods. The activity does not publish nesting sites, promise permanent surface water or turn drainage infrastructure into a promenade. It pairs well with a city architecture walk because the same landscape shaped settlement and movement.
