Story
Fnideq — Castillejos — is a border town a few kilometres from the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, and its whole character comes from that proximity. It is a hub of cross-frontier trade, with wholesale markets and goods depots serving the daily traffic to and from Ceuta. Beyond the trade, there is a beach at the neighbouring cove and a modest medina, but the town reads first as a commercial crossroads. The nearby Punta Almina lighthouse, on the Ceuta side, marks the closest point between the two.
This is for the traveller transiting toward Ceuta, or watching the strange theatre of a European enclave on African soil. It is a practical, working town — not a sightseeing stop.
