A sense of place
Bab n'Ali's paired rock towers are a gateway to Jbel Saghro's austere volcanic landscape, but they should not be sold as a casual roadside attraction. A qualified local guide selects the approach, explains water and navigation limits, and uses the formations to introduce plateau geology and pastoral use. A distant-view product serves travellers without trekking equipment; a walking product requires a separate road, turnaround and support plan. Seasonal herding, private camps and fragile desert surfaces deserve the same respect as a protected monument, even where no fence is visible.
