Story
Agdz is the first real town of the Draa Valley after the road descends from Ouarzazate — the gateway to the long green corridor of palms that runs south toward Zagora and the desert. The great Kasbah Tamnougalt, an ochre fortress of the old caïds, stands in the palmerie, and the oasis stretches for kilometres, its khettara — underground water channels — feeding date gardens that have outlived empires.
This is for the traveller entering the Draa, and the one who wants a kasbah and a palmerie without the headline crowds. It is not a quick stop; its gift is the green, the fort, and the slow road south.
