Arbaoua
Story
Arbaoua is a small town in the Gharb plain on the main road between Kenitra and Larache, a market crossroads named — like many Moroccan towns — for the weekly souk that founded it. The surrounding land is part of the great Mamora cork-oak forest to the north and the irrigated fields of the plain to the south, and the town serves both as a stopping point on the highway north and a centre for local farmers. It is small, flat, and practical.
This is for the traveller breaking the road between Rabat and Tangier, or transiting the Gharb. It is a highway stop and a market town; its value is the break, the fuel, and a cup of tea between bigger places.
