The experience
This specialist day places two archives side by side: images cut into rock and water knowledge maintained through the oasis. An authorized local heritage guide first introduces Figuig's documented rock engravings at a legally accessible, non-sensitive location, explaining that exact coordinates may be withheld to protect the site. No rubbing, wetting, chalking, touching or drone photography is permitted. The second half returns to the palm gardens, where channels, basins and garden levels show a much later but still living record of adaptation. The pairing avoids a false story of uninterrupted continuity; instead it asks how people in different periods marked, used and understood a constrained landscape. Group size should remain small and conservation rules explicit.
Season and access
Rock-art access and coordinates require competent local authorization; never touch, trace, wet, light obliquely with damaging equipment, geotag sensitive panels or leave established footing.
