Taghjijt is a small commune in the hills south of Guelmim — Anti-Atlas country where the slopes fall toward the desert, the palmeries cling to the water, and the flocks graze the sparse pasture between. It is a place of the everyday south: a weekly market, the call to prayer, the long light of the afternoon, the sense of being far from anywhere the postcards know.
