Story
Sidi Bennour is a provincial town in the Doukkala plain between El Jadida and Settat, named for the saint whose shrine founded the settlement. It grew as a market for the rich Doukkala farmland — once Morocco's most productive under colonial irrigation, its beet, wheat, and dairy herds still feed the coast. The town itself is modern, plain, and busy, its streets filling on market day with farmers from the surrounding villages. It carries the unadorned character of a place that works for its living.
This is for the traveller crossing the Doukkala between the coast and the interior, or the one curious about working agricultural Morocco. It is honest and modest; come for the souk and the green fields, not for sights.
