Kelaat M'Gouna is the rose capital of Morocco — the Dadès Valley town where the damascena roses, brought centuries ago and now covering the valley's terraces, are harvested in April and May and distilled into the oils, waters, and soaps that perfume the whole south. In harvest season the air itself is scented, and the rose festival fills the streets with song and the green of the bushes. The Kasbah of the same name overlooks it all.
