Story
Jerada is a former coal-mining town on the high plateau of the Oriental — the town that once fed the kingdom's furnaces with its anthracite, and that has lived, since the mines wound down, the hard transition that comes when the work that defined a place is gone. The surrounding country is high, dry, and cold in winter, the streets plain, and the dignity in the labour and the endurance of the families who stayed.
This is for the traveller who wants to understand Morocco beyond the postcards — the industrial history, the plateau, the places the country was built from. It is not a beauty spot; its truth is its worth, and its welcome is real.
