Story
Issaguen — sometimes called Ketama — is a small town in the high central Rif, deep in the mountain country that defines this part of Morocco. It sits among the cedar and oak forests and the terraced fields of one of the kingdom's most isolated regions, and its weekly souk is the social heart for scattered Berber villages. The town has lived for generations with the dual identity of the Rif: breathtaking landscape and a hard, marginal economy tied to the famous local crop.
This is for the traveller drawn to the deepest Rif, beyond any tourist circuit. There is no polish here, and little infrastructure; come for the mountains and the encounter, and travel with local knowledge.
