The experience
Ich is a remote fortified oasis where rock art, earthen settlement and frontier geography require unusually careful guiding. The activity begins inside the community with a locally authorized orientation, then visits only a panel or landscape sector the competent heritage actors consider suitable for visitors. A rock-art specialist explains how engravings and rare painted shelters contribute to research across the Figuig–Ich zone, while deliberately withholding vulnerable coordinates. The walk also reads irrigation and the compact ksar, preventing the archaeological story from floating free of present-day life. Because the national border nearby is closed and sensitive, no cross-border approach, drone flight or improvised detour is part of the product. Travel time and return fuel must be planned conservatively.
Season and access
Coordinate with local authorities and community hosts, remain far from the closed border, prohibit geotagging and drones, and never touch or enhance rock art for photography.
