Foum Zguid - town centre
Story
Foum Zguid is a desert-edge garrison and supply town — "the door of Zguid," where the paved roads end and the desert tracks begin toward the Iriki dunes and the old caravan roads southwest. It has the feel of a frontier: phosphate trucks, military presence, the long horizon of the hamada, and the sense that the country beyond belongs to the wind and the stars. The oasis at nearby Tagmout is the green surprise in the dust.
This is for the overland traveller heading into the deep desert by 4x4, or the one who simply wants to stand where the asphalt gives up. It is not a tourist town; its gift is its honesty as a threshold.
