Story
Boulemane is a high-altitude town in the Middle Atlas, a provincial capital perched at over nineteen hundred metres on the road between Fès and the desert south. Cold in winter, often snowbound, and cool in summer, it serves the surrounding pastoral country and the cedar-covered slopes nearby. The town itself is administrative and plain — a few hotels, a market, and the inevitable transit traffic — but the setting, ringed by mountains and close to the great cedar forests, gives it a stark beauty.
This is for the traveller crossing the Atlas on the desert road, or seeking high country away from Ifrane's polish. It is a functional place with a severe climate; come for the air, the cedars, and the road south.
