Story
Assa is a deep-south oasis town on the plateau between the Draa and Tan-Tan — a quiet place of date palms and old ksour, set in a country so open and so little-visited that the silence has a weight to it. It lives by the palmery, the flocks, and the trade of the back roads that link the Draa to the Atlantic south, and its market days gather the few families of the surrounding hamada.
This is for the overland traveller on the back roads of the south, and the one for whom remoteness is the reward. It is not a stop with amenities to spare; its gift is the green in the dust and the depth of the quiet.
