أرفود آخرُ مدينةٍ حقيقيّةٍ قبل كثبان عرق الشبي، مدينةُ المستحثات والتمر على طرف واحة تافيلالت، حيث يبتدئ الصحراء جدّاً، وحوانيتُها تبيع الأمونيت أقدم من الديناصورات إلى جانب حصاد تمر الخريف. بناها الفرنسيّون محطّةً إداريّة، وهي قاعدة التموين العمليّة لركض مرزوكة، على نحو أربعين دقيقة شرقاً. والواحة المجاورة تمتدّ كيلومترات، خضراءُ في وجه الغبار.
هذا لمسافرٍ متّجه إلى عرق الشبي يحتاج وقوداً أو مبيتاً أو متحاثاً، ولشاري التمر في أكتوبر. وليست بمدينة عتيقة ذات سحر؛ فإن عطاءها موقعها على عتبة الرمل.
