A sense of place
Assa is a southern inland stop where ksar form, oasis edge and regional history deserve more than a refuelling pause. A local interpreter uses public lanes and a broad settlement view to explain compact building, shade, water and the town's place on roads toward Tata and Zag. Religious spaces and homes remain exterior unless their custodians provide current permission. The walk can include market or food setting, but no fixed souk day or dish is invented. It suits travellers crossing the N12 who want inhabited heritage rather than an off-road rock-art hunt.
