A sense of place

Bab er-Rih—the “Gate of the Wind”—is a useful place to experience Taza's geography rather than recite a gate typology. The upper town occupies a commanding position near the Taza Gap, the passage between the Rif and Middle Atlas; from the high edge, changes in weather and visibility make that strategic landscape tangible. The editorial angle is a paired stop: close reading of masonry and defensive position, followed by a wider explanation of roads moving east and west. It should never be sold as a guaranteed panorama, because haze, cloud and restoration barriers can erase the view.
